Welcome!
Hello!
My name is Sam Fahnestock, and I'm a 26-year-old historic preservationist from just north of Austin, Texas. I've spent my entire academic career studying medieval English architecture with a specialty in parish churches, timber, and timber-framed structures, including roofs. I received my degree in architecture and medieval studies at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts, and then completed all but my dissertation for my MSc in historic buildings conservation at Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, England. I came back to work as a historic preservation planner in Austin, but now I'm moving on to broader horizons.
As I now live in the shadow of Pike's Peak in Colorado, I'm going to write about some past experiences, some current experiences, some buildings I enjoy, some books I enjoy, some joinery I enjoy, anything and everything historic buildings. All this with the goal in mind of returning to England to finish my Master's and spend my days in the field of heritage conservation there. And hopefully pursue a PhD!
I hope you return for continued content!
